JB Clavaud is a Venture Executive with Chevron Technology Ventures. In this role he is accountable for sourcing, evaluating, prosecuting & facilitating the management of early-stage company investments. As such he scouts for business & technology innovation from startup companies.
JB joined Chevron in 2005 as a research Petrophysicist, after working for 3+ years with Schlumberger.
Through his career at Chevron, he has held various roles in different organizations. These include team lead in the technology company, intellectual property manager, reservoir management consultant, unit manager petrophysics, reserve audit committee member, unit manager subsurface strategic research, and now works in the Venture Capital Team of Chevron Technology Ventures.
His passion around the use of technology to solve complex problem or transform the workplace was instrumental in creating an innovation lab for subsurface technology at Chevron, and then co-leading the framing and initiation of the strategic partnership between Chevron, Schlumberger, and Microsoft in 2019.
Throughout those years, JB has been exposed to many subsurface technologies and has worked or touched many of Chevron’s upstream assets. He holds multiple patents in well logging interpretation and was awarded best paper and distinguish lecturer title by the Society of Professional Well Log Analyst.
JB is a Geophysics PhD graduate from the university of Paris, loves hiking, home automation, photography, astronomy, and astrophotography.
