Katrin Ruckwied completed a M.Sc. in Geology and a Ph.D. in Geology and Paleontology at Darmstadt University of Technology (Germany). She is an expert in Mesozoic palynology of Central Europe. She joined Shell International Exploration and Production in Rijswijk, The Netherlands in 2007 where she worked as biostratigrapher for five years. During her time in the Netherlands, Katrin conducted several multi-disciplinary studies for Exploration teams in Europe, Africa, and Australia with special emphasis on Mesozoic and Paleozoic Stratigraphy. She was stratigraphic focal point for Shell South Africa and heavily involved in planning the Shell Lecture Series and the research consortium KARIN.
Afterwards she joined Shell Oil in Houston/Texas. Here, she became Shell biostratigraphic focal point for unconventional plays, developing workflows utilizing Palynofacies and Palynology for source rock characterization and conducting regional studies used for acreage acquisition. Katrin was also responsible for stratigraphic support for the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and Nova Scotia (Canada). Katrin joined Petrostrat Inc. in Houston in 2019 as a Business Development Manager before she joined Ellington Geological Services in 2023. Katrin is specialized in reviewing, interpreting, and integrating multi-disciplinary data sets using different geological, geochemical,l and petrophysical data.
