Robert Stewart
Robert R. Stewart, B.Sc., Ph.D., P.G. (Texas), P.Geo. (Alberta), joined the University of Houston (UH) as Professor of Geophysics and the Cullen Chair in Exploration Geophysics and is Director of the Allied Geophysical Laboratories. He received his B.Sc. from the University of Toronto in math and physics and Ph.D. in geophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked with various sectors of the geophysics world with Chevron’s Oil Field Research Lab, California; ARCO in Dallas; and Chevron Geoscience in Calgary along with service company Veritas Software, and small business GENNIX Technology Inc. and Sonderra, LLC. Rob was Professor of Geophysics at the University of Calgary and co-founded the CREWES Project, a university-industry consortium.

He is a licensed geoscientist in Alberta (P. Geo.) and Texas (P.G.) and holds fixed-wing, unmanned aircraft, and SCUBA certifications. He has published over 180 articles in geoscience journals and magazines. He completed service as President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists in 2019 and previously as 1st Vice President of the Geophysical Society of Houston (GSH). Rob directs UH’s Geophysical Field Camps and led the SEG Geoscientists Without Borders subsurface imaging project in Haiti and now the GWB Dignity in Depth project searching for unmarked burials in historic cemeteries.
