Tim Cook, a graduate of Appalachian State University (BA, Geology, 1990) and LSU (MSc, Geology, 1993) joined BP in 1994. After initial roles as a Development Geologist and Production Engineer in Alaska, he transferred to BP’s Houston office in 1997 and firmly established his career path in reservoir engineering.
Over the next 11 years with BP, Tim worked in a variety of reservoir engineering roles located in Houston, Aberdeen, and Cairo. The majority of these assignments involved exploration, appraisal, and early-mid life development of deepwater projects. Among Tim’s many responsibilities were risk and uncertainty analysis, PVT analysis, well test analysis, reservoir simulation, reserves estimation, and infill well planning and delivery.
Tim joined Apache as a Senior Staff Engineer in Cairo in 2008. During his 4 years in Egypt, his main focus was technical characterization and strategic evaluation of Apache’s onshore Khalda Joint Venture gas condensate fields. In 2012, he transferred to Houston and joined the Reservoir Management department, initially as an individual contributor and then assuming the role of Manager until 2020. His department was mainly responsible for 3D static modeling and reservoir simulation studies for Apache’s global assets, with a strong focus on the North Sea and Egypt.
In 2020, Tim assumed the role of Lead Reservoir Engineer, Suriname. He and his team are responsible for all reservoir engineering support for both the non-op Block 58 JV and the Apache-operated Block 53 JV.
