Applied math is the backbone of seismic imaging and analysis. It plays an essential and integral role throughout the various stages of the seismic workflow, to the extent that it is often taken for granted. We aim to bring together scientists, researchers, and professionals from both academia and industry to explore the latest advancements in applied mathematics and how these developments are shaping the field of seismic imaging and analysis. By focusing on cutting-edge mathematical techniques, attendees will gain insights into how innovations in computational mathematics, inverse problems, optimization, statistics, and machine learning are driving progress in seismic data processing, inversion, and interpretation.
Ideal presentations for this session should include both the thorough analysis of a mathematical technique and its practical applications to seismic problems. Potential topics include (but are not limited to):
1. Mathematical Foundations in Seismic Imaging:
o Solving inverse problems in seismic data processing.
o Fast inversion algorithms, optimization methods, and regularization techniques.
