Bill Neumann is a Geologist currently serving as a near-surface Geophysicist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District and is a co-lead of the USACE Environmental & Engineering Geophysics Sub-Community of Practice. In this role, he provides critical support for Civil Works projects across the United States, in both planning, execution, and review of geophysical investigations.
He has worked as a Hydrologist for the USGS and spent over a decade as an Exploration Geophysicist engaged in land and marine seismic acquisition and data processing across various regions globally. His industry expertise extends to Oil & Gas production in South Texas and a successful tenure as a consulting Geophysicist, primarily in Southern California.
Bill holds a B.S. in Geology, an M.S. in Hydrogeology, and a Ph.D. in Geophysics, all earned at The University of Iowa. His doctoral research focused on the development of a pioneering method utilizing high-frequency Ground Penetrating Radar to assess the persistence of fire-related hydrophobic soils and associated debris flow risks in Southern California.
