Elnaz Pezeshki, is a PhD candidate in integrated coastal sciences at East Carolina University. She holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Her current research projects focus on investigating the impact of climate change on saltwater intrusion and soil salinization. Additionally, she has studied the effects of climate change on extreme events, river discharge, precipitation patterns, and temperature fluctuations. Specifically, she examines how climate change influences these variables and their implications for coastal ecosystems.
To understand the consequences of climate change, particularly in agricultural areas affected by saltwater intrusion, she uses near-surface geophysics techniques. By analyzing these coastal challenges, she aims to contribute to the development of sustainable practices in coastal agriculture and address the threats posed by climate change. Her dedication lies in advancing the understanding of integrated coastal sciences and finding solutions to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on coastal environments.
