Giovani Machado is an economist who holds MSc and DSc degrees in Energy Planning. Expertise in oil & gas geopolitics and prices, gas infrastructure planning, energy modeling and forecast, biofuels supply and demand analysis, energy sustainable development, energy transition, and planning, policy, and regulation of the energy sector. He has worked for several institutions in the energy area: US Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory – LBNL, as a visiting scholar; National Petroleum Agency of Brazil – ANP, as coordinator of strategic studies; Energy Planning Program at COPPE/UFRJ, as a fellow professor in energy economics; MBA in Energy Business at FGV, as professor and coordinator. He has also collaborated with the International Atomic Energy Agency – IAEA as an ad hoc international expert in energy sustainable development and energy modeling issues. In December 2006, he joined the Energy Research Office – EPE, holding various management positions within the Directory of Oil, Gas, and Biofuels. Currently, he is the Director of Energy Economics and Environmental Studies in EPE. Also, he is the author of several publications on energy issues and a reviewer for international energy journals.
