Johan Robertsson received an M.Sc. from Uppsala University, in 1991 and a Ph.D. from Rice University, in 1994. He spent 1995 and 1996 as a postdoc at ETH in Zürich. He then joined Schlumberger in 1996, where he spent 15 years in various R&D and management positions in Cambridge, London, and Oslo. Since 2012 he is professor at ETH where he holds the Chair of Applied Geophysics and currently is the head of the Department of Earth Sciences. In 2015, he received the Eni “New frontiers in hydrocarbons upstream award” together with former colleagues from Schlumberger. In 2016, he was awarded an ERC advanced grant from the European Union. In 2018, he received EAGE’s Conrad Schlumberger award.
