John has been in the industry for 33 years. John remembers when ‘energy’ meant ‘oil’ and has been lucky to have explored in many basins all over the world. Some of them were even economic.
Although he’s held leadership positions for much of the last 15 years, he was once a geoscientist. Believe it or not, he has a PhD in geophysics. John not-so-secretly misses the technical work and given a chance will spend way too much time in the geoscience weeds.
He Joined Equinor in 2015 and currently leads their US subsurface organization. His main challenge is convincing people that it’s worth spending money on non-operated subsurface activities, where influence can be achieved but not without high-quality technical work underpinned by the right data.
