Jonathan "Jon" Allen is a senior earth scientist with Chevron and has over 13 years of industry experience within asset development and reservoir management. Jon has worked in several business units in both development geology and advisory roles and has experience in heavy oil, unconventional, and deepwater resource development as well as strategic planning. Jon also has a passion for teaching and mentoring and has led and developed numerous field trips, short courses, and workshops.
At Chevron, Jon has served in a variety of roles to ensure an inclusive workplace including global president for Chevron's LBTQA employee network, regional coordinator for the Men Advocating Real Change (MARC) program, and a member of the employee networks leadership team.
Jon currently serves as AAPG's Executive Committee secretary. In addition to his role as AAPG secretary, he also serves on AAPG’s Education, Distinguished Lecturer, and Sustainability committees. Jon also serves as a mentor through the Women’s Network’s mentoring program and represents the association on the American Geosciences Institute's intersociety committee on diversity. He has previously volunteered as AAPG's Young Professionals co-chair, AAPG’s DEI coordinator, a member of the Research and Membership committees, and has served in various roles on numerous conference committees at the affiliate society, section, and global levels.
Jon earned his bachelor’s degree in geology-biology from Colby College in Maine and his master’s and doctorate in geosciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jon currently lives in Covington, Louisiana with his husband, Jason, and their fur-baby, Delilah.
