Ryan D. Wilson Ph.D. is a senior mudstone stratigrapher and reservoir quality expert in Chevron’s Technical Center. His technical interests focus on understanding the fundamental causes of variability in mudstone-dominated systems in order to assess hydrocarbon play element quality and distribution, with an emphasis on shale and tight resources. This is conducted through quantitative reconstruction of depositional environments in all settings, from continental to shallow marine and deepwater settings, spanning modern analogs and the deep time stratigraphic record. Ryan leads the development and deployment of training (classroom and field-based) and stratigraphic reservoir characterization workflows to support Chevrons Shale & Tight Asset Class (STAC), actively leading projects in Argentina, Midcontinent, Rockies (Canadian and US), as well as Global Exploration.
