Retired from ExxonMobil with twenty-five years of experience in research and research application. Specialized in reservoir quality and characterization. Strong emphasis on applying petrologic concepts and petrographic methods in globally diverse E&P settings. Career experience included developing, coordinating and teaching internal courses in reservoir quality, sedimentary petrology and petrographic analysis as well as mentoring specialists. For more than 5 years, projects and courses included the use of virtual microscopy and MicroPet.
Currently affiliated with the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science at Indiana University, and the IU Geological Field Station in Montana. Establishing a virtual petrographic laboratory and virtual thin section library at the Field Station as well as developing curriculum to integrate petrology and petrography into field studies.
