The use of geophysical methods for engineering and geotechnical work is not new, but there are advanced ways that geophysics is used for new marine construction projects. This panel will focus on the advancements in and uses of geophysical, geotechnical, and engineering technology to manage the risks and challenges of marine construction activities; from bridge construction, channel design and clearance, ports, and harbor redevelopment to manage a variety of demands such as larger vessels, increased traffic, commercial real estate, and coastal resiliency.
