The 2024 "Discovery Thinking" Forum will be the twenty-ninth AAPG Discovery Thinking initiative presentation. We emphasize exemplary case studies and how integrated geology and geophysics find and develop significant discoveries. Building on our sixteen-year tradition of 100+ discoveries, this Discovery Thinking Forum will feature four extraordinary discovery presentations.
Speakers will discuss the philosophy of exploration, stories from remarkable careers, professional insights, colorful anecdotes, and lessons on the path to success. As younger geoscientists enter our profession, these stories are valuable training analog case studies. Discovery Thinking forums allow explorers to share how they overcame significant business, technical, and professional challenges, sometimes called the "art of exploration," with well-illustrated technical data and insights.
IMAGE offers numerous specialized technical sessions. However, "Discovery Thinking" forums fill an essential gap in how technical and professional skills combine to turn prospects into discoveries. The organizers encourage speakers to share personal stories about discoveries they know well, bring forward appropriate technical data, and address the audience's questions. We build on our heritage with each Discovery-Thinking program. Explorers can find a treasure trove of previous presentations posted on the AAPG Search and Discovery website under the Special Collections tab.
IMAGE 2024 is pleased to present "Integrating Geology and Geophysics: Passport to Giant Global Discoveries." We celebrate the science and professionalism that create discoveries and the prosperity they bring. The organizers thank the presenters for stimulating Discovery Thinking in all of us!
